In 1978, Argentina made history, winning their first FIFA World Cup™ – and they did it in their own back yard, defeating the Netherlands in the final while wearing the lightest shade of baby blue the federation had ever donned. Then in 1986, led by Diego Maradona, they did it again. This time, they wore a fuller, more robust shade of their classic sky blue, just a little bit deeper and darker in color. And finally, in 2022, this time led by Lionel Messi himself, la Albiceleste claimed their third ever FIFA World Cup™ title. They did it in the darkest shade of blue yet.
Why is all of this important? Because all three winning shades of Argentina Sky Blue combine, blend and roll into one cohesive unit here on the 26/27 Argentina Home Jersey. The colors of previous winning kits run up and down the traditional stripes in a gradient pattern that is a celebration of triumph at its very core. With this home top, adidas set out to create a kit to celebrate champions, and what better way to do it than to celebrate all the champions that paved the way to this moment in one fell swoop?
Beyond its unique colorway, the 26/27 Argentina Home Jersey also features a seasonal collar with flat-knit cuffs and a back neck sign off reading “1893” – the year that the Argentinian football federation was established.
